Documents obtained by CBS News show that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) discussed using their covert operation "Fast and Furious" to argue for controversial new rules about gun sales.
In Fast and Furious, ATF secretly encouraged gun dealers to sell to suspected traffickers for Mexican drug cartels to go after the "big fish." But ATF whistleblowers told CBS News and Congress it was a dangerous practice called "gunwalking," and it put thousands of weapons on the street. Many were used in violent crimes in Mexico. Two were found at the murder scene of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.
After seeing this yesterday I had become quite angry. Not so much for the news itself, which is plenty to get any law abiding citizen into a lather, but for the larger picture of what it represents. Rather than string together a profanity laced rant on the evils of hypocritical leftists and their beyond evil and cruel ideology, I decided to hold off for 24 hours and allow myself to cool down. My goal was to approach the subject from my more comfortable position of cold analysis. it has not worked. Today, our Attorney General is testifying to Congress on this very topic, and he will do his usual job lying, spinning, deflecting, and outright fabricating. That does not anger me nearly as much as the knowledge that it takes a special kind of person to dream something like this up in the first place, but actually doing this raises the evil to a whole new place. With the 24 hour rule in place, I wrote about the new Chevy Volt, and the fact that it is very likely to kill those who purchased one, along with more innocent gas guzzling drivers who had the foresight to avoid doing business with the U.S. Government. I was hit with a realization. The same evil which permeated one unacceptable situation, also fostered the other.
During the hearing this morning in which Eric Holder is deservedly grilled by Congressmen, I would like to have this one question answered, and no, I will not be holding my breath. I would like someone to ask of the Attorney General, "What kind of people are you?" Think back to the worst of the worst of previous U.S. political scandals, and nothing comes close. Fast and Furious, along with the Chevy Volt, are both instances of the current Administration purposefully placing American Citizens in harms way for no other reason than to push an ideological agenda. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry is dead now for the simple reason that Barack Obama wanted to sway public opinion against private gun ownership. Chevy Volts were placed on the road while the people selling them knew full well that they were quite possibly deadly to their drivers and others on the road, so that Barack Obama could sway public opinion to get behind his new green economy. What kind of people do things like that?
Two days past the horrific shooting in Arizona earlier this year, I read several articles about how people were angry with all conservatives because our beliefs in limited government, fiscal sanity, and following constitutional principles lead people to commit violent acts. Even after it came to light that the gunman was a paranoid schizophrenic who actually aligned himself with the left politically, the asinine meme continued. In fact, one facebook friend even labeled me an accomplice to the crime, along with the likes of Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh. Calls for a new civil tone went out all across America, which of course meant and still mean, conservatives be silent. So, for those of you who voted for Barack Obama and his team of Marxist thugs, what say you now? You were near hysterics in incorrectly blaming conservative rhetoric for causing violence. Here we have a situation where the current administration actually took actions which callously placed U.S. citizens in the role of pawns to be sacrificed for the greater glory of their political agenda. For those of you living in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, or California, how do you feel knowing that your lives are meaningless to the current leaders of our Executive Branch? Not only were you placed in that position, but the current Administration felt it would be O.K. to actively move to sacrifice your lives to help them politically. After all, those guns would need to be used in actual violent crimes in order to make the entire shitty plan work. Make no mistake about it, but these two news items represent the two single most cynical acts in U.S. history. Even during the true previous political low points of our history, has an American President sanctioned the harm of American Citizens solely for the purpose of pushing his domestic agenda. This is not an argument against the merits of repealing the Second Amendment or jumping head first into the non existent green economy, but merely an argument against the methods used by this President to achieve that end. No ends possible could justify these means. For those of you who will doubtless argue that this is no different from what any other crooked politician has done, you are indeed stupid. This argument is nothing more than moral equivalency in its purest form. This is the same argument which allows for people to equate mass suicide bombings with with the British defense of the Falklands. It is the very philosophy necessary to lead people to believe it is O.K. to kill American Law Enforcement Personnel so that you will be able to convince them to adopt the fire arms legislation you might want passed.
One of the things which frustrates me most about political discourse in this country is the claim of some form of moral standing being put forth as an argument supporting bad ideas. If you believe that your way of doing things would truly be better, then by all means, argue and support your position. Claiming yourself to be morally superior to me will not get me to agree with you. It will give me the immediate inclination that you yourself do not actually believe in your position however. I know that both sides of the political spectrum are guilty of this, and I don't like it any better when the folks on my side do it either. That being said, there are differences in the morals and the moral standing between our two sides. There are behaviors which lead to success rather than failure, good rather than evil, freedom rather than oppression, and happiness and health rather than heart ache and sickness. I have heard over and over again how being a conservative is synonymous with racism, injustice, greed, and every other foul and evil known to have ever afflicted our society. If you continue to support Barack Obama, then I have this to say, and believe me it will be top of the list, you have lost your false claim to the moral high ground. As a matter of fact, you have lost your entire right to be in the morally superior conversation. Keep this in mind, nobody died as a direct result, or even as an indirect result of Watergate. Our current occupier of the White House is actively sacrificing the lives of our fellow Americans to further his own glory. It gets no worse than that.
For those of you who might say, "Oh well, its only Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California," bear this in mind, and heed these words. Trouble knows how to drive a car. Trouble is also able to afford that car, along with the gas to drive it. These armed Mexican thugs have been allowed free and unfettered access to America's Southern Border. How long do you think it will be before they read a map and discover places like Montana, West Virginia, or even Minnesota. How long will it be before they realize that it is in their interests to conduct business in those places. The damage done in terms of Economics and National Security will be felt for years to come.
The damage done in terms of the moral fabric of our society may not ever be able to be repaired. Yesterday, Barack Obama gave his umpteenth speech in which he made class envy the central tenet of his political philosophy. Putting aside for the moment that never before has a U.S. President so shamelessly pitted one group of Americans against another, used envy as an election tool, he is correct, if accidentally, on at least one thing. There are two classes of Americans in our country today. Those who's lives matter to President Obama, and those who's lives do not. Don't get me wrong either, little Barry is not alone in this. This program was floated as an idea and put into practice. It required a lot of people agreeing with it in order for it to have happened, and not one of those people raised their hands and said, let's not do this. I'll ask it again, because it needs to be asked. What kind of people are these?
